New Features on KanDrive

Administration Posted on January 02, 2026

Travel along U.S. 83 is getting smarter and safer thanks to the Kansas Department of Transportation's Advanced Technology Project. In 2022, KDOT received a $6.7 million Advanced Transportation and Congestion Management Technologies Deployment grant from the Federal Highway Administration to bring modern transportation tools to this corridor. With KanDrive's website and mobile app, drivers can access real-time road conditions, weather alerts, construction updates, and hands-free reporting to help make better travel decisions, especially during this time of the year. We encourage drivers, freight operators, and local businesses to download the KanDrive app and use it when traveling U.S. 83.

Key features on KanDrive include:

  • Send and receive alerts about incidents and conditions on KDOT roadways
  • Hands-free voice reporting in iOS and Apple CarPlay
  • Coming Soon: hands-free voice reporting for Android and Android Auto
  • Operate on Amazon Alexa home speaker and app
  • Detour information
  • Easier Sharing of Work Zone Information
  • Display oversized truck locations - U.S. 83 Corridor only

The new enhancements were developed as part of the U.S. 83 Advanced Technology Project.
