The Investigation Division consists of a 4 Investigators, 1 Investigation Sergeant and Lieutenant Greg Hands. It is under the general supervision of Undersheriff John Andrews. They conduct follow-up investigations on selected crimes, as well as conduct on-scene investigation of all serious and violent crimes. They are also responsible for the collection and preservation of crime scene evidence. The Evidence Technician receives all evidence, logs it in the computer system and stores it in secure locations. If evidence needs forensic testing conducted on it the evidence technician prepares and packages it for transport or shipment to the necessary laboratory. Personnel from the division serve on the Garden City/Finney County Drug Task Force, which is responsible for intensive investigation of drug trafficking in the community. Personnel from the Garden City Police Department, Holcomb Police Department and Office of Finney County Attorney also serve on this task force. One deputy attached to the Investigation Division is assigned to the D.E.A. (Drug Enforcement Administration).
