Drug / Alcohol Prevention (DAP) offers information on the dangers of substance usage, the laws regarding adolescent substance usage, and refusal skills to help the adolescent avoid the peer pressure to experiment with drugs and alcohol. DAP is available as needed and can be delivered within schools, social service agencies, and community organizations Substance Abuse Intervention
Youth who are experimenting and/or use drugs on a recreational basis are assigned to intervention strategies to help influence and ultimately reduce their usage of alcohol and drugs. Youth Services utilizes two programs for substance abuse intervention. Alcohol / Drug Information School
The Alcohol / Drug Information School (ADIS), utilized by Youth Services, combines information with cognitive-behavioral group processing to educate youth about the dangers of alcohol / drugs and the various consequences youth can experience in the juvenile justice system. The program also offers refusal skills and decision-making skills to help youth refrain from substance usage.Teen Intervene
Teen Intervene is a research-based program for those youth who are more resistant to interventions. This program confronts the youth about substance usage and offers alternative, pro-social behaviors. This program is delivered by a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor licensed by the State of Kansas.
