The Finney County Sheriff's Office - Gang/Crime Prevention Division

Crime Prevention, to which one deputy is assigned is attached to the Patrol Division. The objective of crime prevention is to promote public awareness for the prevention of crime and to offer assistance to local residents and businesses with security concerns.

The Crime Prevention Officer provides safety education presentations on drug abuse and preventative crime measures to schoolchildren and to many clubs and organizations throughout the city and county. Puppetry, films and brochures are used in the presentations to aid in conveying the message.

The Crime Prevention Officer is also a member of the Street Gang Task Force, which was formed in 1995 through the cooperation of the Office of Finney County Attorney. Other members are from the Garden City Police Department, Holcomb Police Department, and Office of Finney County Attorney.
