The Finney County Sheriff's Office - Animal
Control Division
The Patrol
Division Lieutenant oversees the Animal Control Division to which
one deputy is assigned. The Animal Control Deputy enforces all county
resolutions and state statutes of animal control and vicious dog
laws. These duties include the capture, impound and care of stray
cats and dogs. Finney County
maintains an Animal Shelter along with the City of Garden City at
206 W. Isabelle Street where impounded animals are cared for until
they are claimed by the owner, adopted or humanely disposed of.
Animal control officers use PetWhere software to track impounded
animals, owner, adoptees, etc. The Shelter hours are 11:30 a.m.
to 1:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. If you
are interested in adopting an animal you may stop at the Shelter
during these times, call (620) 272-3745 or leave email
which will be forwarded to the Animal Control Deputy.
